Google unveils new tab Nexus 7

Google and Asus has announced a new thinner, lighter tablet Nexus 7 (new model) with full 1080p HD resolution display. The new Nexus 7 will run on latest version of Google’s mobile OS Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The new tablet has significant improvement over the first Nexus 7 in terms of hardware, camera, weight and mobile operating system.

The new ASUS Google Nexus 7 tablet is the first device running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

The new Nexus 7 is an 8.45 mm thin tablet weighing just 290 grams and will have a 7-inch touchscreen display with 1080p HD resolution. The old Nexus 7 featured 1280x800 pixel resolution with pixel density of 216 pixels per inch. That has been increased to 1920x1200 pixel resolution with pixel density of 323 pixels per inch.

The new Nexus 7 tab has a quad-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Pro along with 2 GB RAM. Whereas the old Nexus 7 had the NVIDIA Tegra 3 chipset with 1 GB RAM. 

Google's new Nexus 7 will also have dual-band WiFi support. Google has als provided the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update with several new features such as multi-user restricted profiles, Bluetooth Low Energy support, Hindi language support and several other features.

The new tab will have the new Bluetooth 4.0 LE that will work nicely with the Bluetooth Smart support in the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. It will also have a HDMI output for connecting the tablet directly with a HD display. There will be near field communication support and wireless charging support.

Google has not revealed the actual battery capacity but mentioned that it can now support playback of HD video for 9 hours and 10 hours worth of web browsing.

The new Nexus 7 has the same 1.2 megapixel camera in the front and a new 5 megapixel camera at the back. It also features SlimPort technology support that allows connecting the tablet to a larger display via HDMI, VGA or DisplayPort connectors.

Google will start selling the new Nexus 7 from next week onwards starting $229 for 16 GB Wi-Fi only model, $269 for 32 GB Wi-Fi model and $349 for 32 GB 4G LTE supporting model for the US region.
