Sony launches Xperia M smartphone

The newest entrant in the mid-range segment from Sony is Xperia M, which has recently been made available in India for Rs 12,990.

Sony Xperia M has a 4 inch TFT Capacitive Touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. It is armed with a scratch resistant glass.

The smartphone is powered by a 1GHz Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 plus processor with 1GB of RAM. It runs on Android OS, v4.1 Jelly Bean and it will get an Android 4.3 update.

The handset has a 5.0MP rear camera and a VGA front camera. The rear camera is an autofocus camera powered by a LED flash and comes with features such as panorama and image stabilization. From storage point of view, this device has a 4GB internal memory which can further be expanded up to 32GB.

Nokia announces pre-booking for Lumia 925 in India

Nokia has announced pre-bookings for its Lumia 925 on leading e-commerce sites in India such as Flipkart, Indiatimes and HomeShop 18.

The Nokia Lumia 925 is expected to be released in India in fourth week of August.

The phone is available for pre-booking on Flipkart for Rs. 33999. Flipkart is offering free Blaupunkt bluetooth headset worth Rs.1326 with the pre-order.

Motorola, a Google subsidiary has launched a new smartphone the Moto X.

The Moto X smartphone is powered by Android™ 4.2.2, Jellybean. With over 2,000 possibilities to choose from, you can design a phone that's uniquely yours from the front to the back, to the accents, the wallpaper, the memory and add a signature phrase.

Later this year, you’ll even be able to order a back panel made of real wood in bamboo, teak, ebony or rosewood.

The most useful feature is touch less mode providing 100% hands-free voice commands. If you've password-protected your phone, it won’t execute most commands until you first pick it up and unlock it.

You can use a simple gesture to instantly launch the camera without unlocking the device.

Indian smartphone manufacturer Lemon Mobiles has launched its 3D smartphone the Aspirational A3. The smartphone is available in the market for Rs 12,000.

The smartphone comes with 3D support and has a 4.3-inch qHD resolution IPS display with 540 x 960 pixel resolution. The device has a 1GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra to hit stores on 2 Aug

Sony India launched the Xperia Z Ultra phablet in India for Rs. 46,990. The Xperia Z Ultra has a 6.4-inch display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and 344 ppi pixel density. The smartphone will be hitting store in India from August 2 and will be available in multiple colors including Black, White and Purple.

In spite of its large size, the Xperia Z Ultra is relatively slim at 6.5 mm and weighs about 212 grams. The Xperia Z Ultra is IP57 certified to be dust and water proof and water resistant up to a depth of 1 meter and up to 30 minutes. The Xperia has Triluminos display technology which Sony claims results in colors looking rich and natural.

Micromax’s launched Bling 3 A86

After the successful launch of its Canvas 4 earlier this month, Micromax has now introduced a new handset, Bling A86, with a price tag of Rs. 9,599. The phone has crystal studded keys and marble finish look. The phone is available on Snapdeal.com for Rs 9,599. The home screen button is coated with Swarovski zirconia crystals.

The phone runs on Android v4.1 Jelly Bean, and has a 1 GHz dual-core processor. The Micromax Bling A86 features a 4-inch touchscreen and a 5 megapixel rear camera. It also has a 0.3 megapixel front camera.

Karbonn launched A1 Star and A5 Star

Handset manufacturer Karbonn Mobiles launched two budget smartphones, the Smart A1 Star and the A5 Star. The Karbonn Smart A1 Star has a price tag of Rs 3,514, while the A5 Star is priced at Rs 4,790. Both the phones are dual-SIM handsets.

The Smart A1 Star has a 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels. This gives it a pixel density of 165 ppi.

The A5 Star also has a 3.5-inch display and the same 480 x 320 pixel resolution.

The Smart A1 Star has a 1GHz processor along with 256MB of RAM and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Good news for Narendra Modi fans, soon there will be a smartphone dedicated to him.

Smart Namo, an independent body formed by Modi fans, has announced it will soon launch a mobile phone by the same name.

The description on the official website www.smartnamo.com says, ‘We are from land of Gujarat & in electronic smartphone business in China. NAMO stands for Narendra Modi and Next Generation Android Mobile Odyssey’.

As per the brief product specifications posted on the website, the 5-inch SmartNamo smartphone will be powered by a MediaTek MT6589 SoC that includes a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and include Gorilla Glass 2 protection and a 13 megapixel camera.

The phone, according to the website, will be available in four variants with 1GB or 2GB RAM and 16GB or 32GB of internal memory.

Apart from launching the standard version of the device, the group has already starting working on the "Shri Narendra Modi signature edition" handset.

The spokesperson for Smart Namo, Ammeet Desai told The Wall Street Journal that they got the idea for this phone from China itself, where several products like MP3 players and smartphones are sold with branding of the leaders.

While no time line was given for the launch of the device, the group says it the smartphone will be launched "very soon." The report claims that Smart Namo phone will cost Rs 16,000 at launch and have videos as well as apps related to Modi.

Google unveils new tab Nexus 7

Google and Asus has announced a new thinner, lighter tablet Nexus 7 (new model) with full 1080p HD resolution display. The new Nexus 7 will run on latest version of Google’s mobile OS Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The new tablet has significant improvement over the first Nexus 7 in terms of hardware, camera, weight and mobile operating system.

The new ASUS Google Nexus 7 tablet is the first device running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

The new Nexus 7 is an 8.45 mm thin tablet weighing just 290 grams and will have a 7-inch touchscreen display with 1080p HD resolution. The old Nexus 7 featured 1280x800 pixel resolution with pixel density of 216 pixels per inch. That has been increased to 1920x1200 pixel resolution with pixel density of 323 pixels per inch.

The new Nexus 7 tab has a quad-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Pro along with 2 GB RAM. Whereas the old Nexus 7 had the NVIDIA Tegra 3 chipset with 1 GB RAM. 

Google's new Nexus 7 will also have dual-band WiFi support. Google has als provided the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update with several new features such as multi-user restricted profiles, Bluetooth Low Energy support, Hindi language support and several other features.

The new tab will have the new Bluetooth 4.0 LE that will work nicely with the Bluetooth Smart support in the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. It will also have a HDMI output for connecting the tablet directly with a HD display. There will be near field communication support and wireless charging support.

Google has not revealed the actual battery capacity but mentioned that it can now support playback of HD video for 9 hours and 10 hours worth of web browsing.

The new Nexus 7 has the same 1.2 megapixel camera in the front and a new 5 megapixel camera at the back. It also features SlimPort technology support that allows connecting the tablet to a larger display via HDMI, VGA or DisplayPort connectors.

Google will start selling the new Nexus 7 from next week onwards starting $229 for 16 GB Wi-Fi only model, $269 for 32 GB Wi-Fi model and $349 for 32 GB 4G LTE supporting model for the US region.

Samsung expands its galaxy tab range

Samsung has expanded its galaxy tab range with the launch of Tab 3 211 and Tab 3 311 today in an event organized at Taj Mansing Hotel, New Delhi.

The Galaxy Tab 3 211 is equipped with a 1.2GHZ Dual Core Processor, 3.1 MP rear camera and 1.3 MP front camera.

The Tab has 7 inch TFT Capacitive Touchscreen with 1024 x 600 pixels and it runs on Android Jelly Bean. It has 1 GB of Ram, 8GB/16GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB with MicroSD card.

The Tab 3 211 is powered by 4,000 mAh battery and has a price tag of Rs.17745

Blackberry Q5 will be launched on 16th July.

BlackBerry is all set to launch its much-awaited BlackBerry Q5 handset in India on July 16.

Blackberry Q5 is a touch and QWERTY smartphone based on Blackberry 10 OS. The handset is expected to be launched with price tag of Rs 25,000. It has a 3.1-inch LCD display, 1.2GHZ Dual-core processor, 2GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage and 32 GB micro SD card slot.

The Q5 has a 5 megapixel main camera along with a 2 megapixel front camera and a 2180 mAh battery.

The BlackBerry Q5 is just 10.8 mm thick and weighs only 120 g (4.23 oz). It is believed that the device will be available in India in red, black, white and pink colors.

Xolo T1000 smartphone launching on July 15

Xolo will soon launch an Nvidia Tegra 3 powered quad core Android phone Xolo T1000.

The phone is available for pre-order on Flipkart for Rs 16,499 and the company has confirmed that it will start shipping the product starting July 15.
The T1000 is powered by a 1.5 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core processor. It will also get a 12 core Nvidia ULP GeForce graphics processor, 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB inbuilt memory.

Xolo T1000 has a 4.7 inch HD (1280 x 720 pixel) capacitive touchscreen IPS display based on one-glass solution (OGS) technology and will run on Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean). It will come with an 8 megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor, LED flash, 1080p video recording and a 2 megapixel front camera. It will also have full HD video playback and support for Nvidia Tegra games through Nvidia TegraZone.

The phone is lightweight at 167 grams and has a 2000 mAh battery. Some additional features include active noise cancellation and 3G support for 21 Mbps speed.

Gionee E-Life E5 and E-Life E6 smartphones.

Gionee, a Chinese smartphone brand has announced two smartphones under its E-life series E-Life E5 and E-Life E6.

Gionee E-Life E5 is a slim phone with 6.85 mm thickness and has a 4.8 inch HD Amoled display, 16 GB inbuilt memory, an 8 megapixel rear and a 5 megapixel front camera.

The phone has a 1.5 GHz quad core processor and is very slim at 6.85 mm thickness. The phone has a 4.8 inch HD Super Amoled display at 306 PPi with 1280 x 720 pixel screen resolution and runs on Android Jelly Bean v4.2. E-Life E5 comes with an 8 megapixel BSI rear camera and a 5 megapixel full HD front camera.

E5 is powered by a 2000 mAh battery. The phone comes with an in-built Digital Theatre System (DTS) and 3D surround system. E5 comes with an in-built memory of 16 GB and supports a 32 GB micro SD card. It will be available in three colors yellow, graphite black and white. The Gionee E-Life E5 will be priced at Rs 19,999.

Gionee E-Life E6 has a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB RAM and 31 GB of onboard memory.

The phone uses world's first White OGS (one glass solution) display and has just a 2.54 mm narrow bezel and is 7.7mm thin. This reduces the overall size of the phone even though it gets a 5 inch full HD display with 441 ppi pixel density. It weighs only 128 grams.

E6 is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB RAM and 31 GB of onboard memory. It comes with a non-removable 2020 mAh battery. E-Life E6 has a 13 megapixel rear camera with BIS (Backside illumination technology) sensor and a 5 megapixel front-facing camera.

E6 has DTS 3D stereo surround with speakers placed on the sides of the phone instead at the back and has dual mic for noise cancellation. The phone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and allows users to answer phones by directly raising it up to their ears. It also detects motion of head and play/pauses a video and will automatically turn the alarm into snooze mode when the phone is flipped.

The phone is to be made available in India starting first week of August with the Price tag of Rs 26,000.
