MOTOROLA MOTO X ™, design your own phone.

Motorola, a Google subsidiary has launched a new smartphone the Moto X.

The Moto X smartphone is powered by Android™ 4.2.2, Jellybean. With over 2,000 possibilities to choose from, you can design a phone that's uniquely yours from the front to the back, to the accents, the wallpaper, the memory and add a signature phrase.

Later this year, you’ll even be able to order a back panel made of real wood in bamboo, teak, ebony or rosewood.

You can choose color-matched cases and earbuds, specify the wallpaper you want or request an engraved message for the back.

The most useful feature is touch less mode providing 100% hands-free voice commands. You can command the phone to dial a number, send a text, open an app, and set your alarm without holding down a button to speak. The phone is always listening, even when it’s in your car’s cup holder. You just have to train the phone to recognize your voice.

If you've password-protected your phone, it won’t execute most commands until you first pick it up and unlock it.

The Moto X comes with the Assist feature, if you turn it on the phone will change modes according to the time and place.

In Driving mode, the phone detects that you’re in motion. It starts reading new text messages aloud, routing calls to the speakerphone and, if you like, responding to calls with an automatic text message.

In Meeting mode, the phone knows when you’re in a meeting or at a show by consulting your calendar. During those hours, the phone mutes itself and can respond with a text message.

Sleeping mode mutes the phone during bedtime hours that you specify.

In Meeting and Sleeping modes, you can choose to make exceptions for Favorites and when a caller urgently redials.

Motorola observed that many people wake their phones many times a day just to check the time or missed messages. The Moto X displays this information briefly every time you move it. You don’t have to press a button; just pull it from your pocket or lift it from the desk.

If that screen shows an icon (text, e-mail or call, for example), you can hold down your finger on it to view the details. Or swipe upward to open the corresponding app to reply. Sadly, this feature shows you only one notification, the most recent.

You can use a simple gesture to instantly launch the camera without unlocking the device.

SPECS:

  • SIM: Removable nano SIM
  • Operating System: Android 4.2.2 (Jellybean)
  • Display: 4.7” AMOLED RGB Display / 720p HD
